Holiday Gift Guide ~ Wrebbit 3D Puzzles Review & Giveaway {US & Canada}

I have always loved doing puzzles. My husband and I haven't done a puzzle together in quite a long time and really want to get into doing them again. Now that we are moving to a bigger house we should have room to do puzzles more frequently. Sitting together doing puzzles gives us time to chat and just be alone and we really miss that now that we are so busy with our family. Have you ever heard of 3D puzzles? I have but never tried to do one...until recently!
While I was at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair, I came across the Wrebbit 3D Puzzle booth and was immediately intrigued. They had tables set up with all sorts of puzzles set out in various stages of construction. People were just so entranced with these puzzles...I knew they had to be good!! Among some of their puzzles they had Big Ben, The Taj Mahal and others. 3D puzzles are puzzles that are assembled from the bottom to the top and they are not flat at all. Wrebbit 3D is a leading producer of 3D puzzles and I was so happy to have met them! Here is a bit more about this company...

After revolutionizing the jigsaw puzzle world in 1991 and capturing the imagination and hearts of millions of people everywhere, the story of Wrebbit3D™ puzzles continues unabated, thus preserving and perpetuating the dream of pioneering creator and 3D puzzle inventor Paul E. Gallant.

In addition to bringing back redesigned classic favourites like Big Ben, Taj Mahal, Neuschwanstein Castle and other prominent historical and architectural landmarks, Wrebbit3D™ also continues to blaze new trails with The Hobbit ™, after resuming its association with Warner Bros. and securing the licensing rights for The Lord of the Rings™ Trilogy and the theatrical releases of the The Hobbit  - An unexpected Journey (Dec 2012), The Hobbit – Desolation of Smaug (Dec 2013) and The Hobbit – There and Back Again (July 2014).

Proudly made in Canada from non-toxic polyethylene foam, Wrebbit3D™ Puzzles are the sturdiest 3D jigsaw puzzles ever invented. They also have the highest piece count and are the largest of their kind. Some 3D puzzle fans are now referring to us as “Wrebbit3D™ in HD™” to express their excitement over the quality of Wrebbit 3D™ designs and true-to-life illustrations.

If you have never done a 3D puzzle before, take a minute to watch this Stop-Motion LIVE of the Big Ben puzzle...which was just released!

Isn't that cool? I thought so when I first saw it...so much detail and the finished product looks just like the real thing!!
So, for this review, I was given a Wrebbit 3D Puzzle and I chose to review the Taj Mahal 3D puzzle. This is a daunting, 950 piece puzzle and I didn't realize it at the time, but it is their biggest one (if you are counting the pieces)! It is also soooo beautiful, I just had to try to put it together!!
Before we started putting the puzzle together, we first had to go through all the pieces and remove the pieces with a red dot on them...these were the pieces that the laser machine cut but didn't remove. You can throw these away but we kept them in a separate Ziploc bag in case we accidentally put a piece in that was not supposed to be discarded.
Each piece has it's own shape and size. The pieces are also foam so they fit together snugly once they are properly matched. Obviously, the photo above has been enlarged to show the detail of two of the pieces.
My living room floor was covered in puzzle pieces every time we went to do a bit more of the puzzle. Because my house is small, I don't really have a place to do puzzles so we tackled this puzzle after the children were in bed. It literally took up my whole floor!!
Hubby and I tirelessly worked on this puzzle for at least 4 hours the first night and I felt that we got nowhere at all. There is so much to doing a puzzle like this and I thought for sure we would be done in one more evening session. One thing I loved was the instruction manual. It shows you no details on the pieces themselves, but gives you some direction as to what sections go where and what pieces are connected. This came in handy when I was trying to put together the dome.
After what seemed like an eternity...we finished the puzzle. I think it took over 15 hours to complete and some of those hours were frustrating. :) But it was SO worth it! See that big, beautiful dome? That was the hardest part because the pieces were not sitting flat; but rather you had to flex them so they would make the top rounded. HARD. VERY hard to do.
TAAAA DAAA!!! Our finished puzzle...the Taj Mahal! Wow. It is beautiful, isn't it?? Now if I could just find a way to display it out of the children's reach... :)

The Taj Mahal 3D puzzle retails for $36.95 and you can find it online at Amazon or check out Wrebbit's store locator on their website to find a store near you that carries Wrebbit 3D Puzzles. I checked around me and the closest stores were in Canada.
So, in my opinion...Wrebbit 3D Puzzles are incredible!! I enjoyed putting ours together and it looks so much like the real Taj Mahal...one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Any puzzle from Wrebbit 3D would make an amazing gift for any one on your Christmas list...especially for the puzzle enthusiast! Check out Wrebbit today and become inspired at the beauty, detail and intricacy of each puzzle.
