Well, for some reason blogging just didn't happen last week. I have no clue why...probably because I was busy as usual and exhausted by the end of the day. I also haven't been couponing as usual either...hope to get that up and running again soon too. :)  Anyway, thank you for your patience as I enjoyed my little break and I am looking forward to a new week of reviews and some REALLY great giveaways too! Sainthood Herbs Review

So, we are finally into the season of fall! Today, my children went outside to rake their very first leaf pile and it was SO much fun. The air had a crisp chill to it and the leaves were yellow, orange and brown. I loved watching my little people rake up the leaves...this is probably my favorite time of the year! Fall is also a fun time of year because it means that the holidays are right around the corner; Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year...oh, it is so exciting to be getting into that time of year once again! I was very interested in the Stress & Sleep because around here, sleep can ellude me most nights. I am VERY tired at the end of the day but I have a difficult time turning my brain off. It is so easy for my hubby but I truly struggle with relaxing and settling in for the night - sometimes it takes me over 2 hours to actually fall asleep. :(

So, for this review I was sent a full sized bottle of Sainthood Herbs Stress & Sleep, which retails for $28.95/90 capsule bottle. This product contains all natural ingredients that are combined to induce relaxation and help with the occasional sleep difficulties. Here is a snapshot of the supplement facts...

I LOVE Lemon Balm...it is such a soothing herb and I have really found that it does relax me quite a bit, which is nice...especially on those nights that I have such difficulty calming down.

The pills themselves are pretty standard in size...I don't find them hard to swallow as they are the same size as my other vitamins that I take on a regular basis. So, to take these all you need to is take three pills per day with a meal. That is it! Nothing really complicated here and sleep and relaxation could not be any easier.

So, I am loving Stress & Sleep! The capsules are super easy to swallow and I am definitely sleeping good these days! The ingredients are wonderful and are all great for helping me to relax and seem to do a pretty decent job of helping me get to sleep quicker. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking to get those needed "zzzzzzzzzzz's" this holiday season...trust me, we all can use all the help we can get! :)

We just cannot say enough about how we love Purex laundry detergent. I am sort of a brand-loyal type of person and since I was introduced to Purex, I never really use anything else. If you have an extra dirty load or a larger load, you can use two packs per load. Typically though, you will only need one packet.

These are small packets that are greenish/blue in color and please keep in mind that you only want to handle these with dry hands as any moisture will dissolve the protective covering. Also, keep these away from children as they could pose a swallowing hazard. Always good to keep these types of things away from children anyway. I will add here that these detergent capsules smell really great!

To use these pods, simple toss them into your washing machine and then add your laundry. They dissolve on their own and it is that simple. No fuss, no mess...just clean laundry! Purex UltraPacks plus Oxi pods work to remove stains, which is something I deal with on a regular basis around here. :) My laundry turned out smelling super fresh and also, some spots on the clothing had disappeared. I love it when I don't have to pre-treat stains in order for them to come out completely.

Storage Dilemmas: Plastic or Cardboard?

A self-storage unit is the perfect solution if you are in the process of moving, need extra space to store holiday decorations or furniture, or if you need to hold onto important documents without having them underfoot. Whenever you begin to pack and store your possessions, you probably wonder whether it’s better to use plastic bins, cardboard boxes, or a combination of both. What works best in your Cabot storage unit? Here are some things to consider.

Cost

There is no doubt that plastic storage bins are going to cost you far more than cardboard boxes—especially when it’s possible to get some or all of your cardboard boxes for free from a helpful supermarket produce manager or liquor store manager. So if your budget is slim, go with cardboard. There are other advantages to cardboard as well (see below), but a cardboard box is always the choice of those who don’t want to spend a fortune on filling their storage unit.

Durability

You might think plastic always wins the durability contest, but that isn't the case. While plastic doesn't degrade quickly, it does get brittle with time. Rough handling can cause cracks, as can exposure to heat and sunlight. Cardboard boxes, though made of glued layers of paper, can be surprisingly strong, lasting for years if kept dry and with adequate air flow. Choose the highest quality you can afford of either plastic or cardboard. The big advantage that plastic has in terms of durability is that it is also waterproof. Where cardboard will eventually being to grow mold and mildew before turning into a smelly, mushy mess, plastic will simply and stalwartly keep your possessions dry (barring any leaks from cracks or ill-fitting lids, of course).

Stackability

If you’re going with cardboard boxes, you've got great stackability, even if the boxes are different sizes. Just be sure that heavy boxes are on the bottom of the stack and that you fill any empty space in a box with a filler that will help the box retain its shape and strength. Plastic boxes are often designed specifically to be stacked, and as long as you keep heavier boxes on the bottom, you won’t have to worry about filling up empty space.

Purpose

The final consideration for your Cabot storage unit plans is for what purpose you are storing something. Documents are best stored in sturdy plastic for its waterproof qualities, but clothing and textiles might be happier in cardboard, where air can circulate around and within the box. For items like dishes, the choice is yours, as long as you wrap each dish in paper or cloth to keep them from breaking. If you are a college student on a limited income, cardboard boxes you glean from stores or friends are perfect for your needs. If you have the money to spend, a well-organized selection of plastic bins is easier to label and stack with ease. Or you can use a combination of both to protect the things that matter to you most.

Many men (I am sure) don't realize that the infertility issue may be with them and that sometimes their sperm may just not be strong enough to do what they are designed to do. So, for this review I was sent the book “Before Your Pregnancy: A 90-Day Guide for Couples on How to Prepare for a Healthy Conception" as well as a month's supply of ProXeed. Because I do not struggle with infertility, it was important for me to take a deeper look into the issue that is not always talked about but is so devastating to so many. How does infertility happen and what can we do to help ourselves? These are some questions I had going into this review.

Ok, so I love the cartoon in the introduction of the book...so cute! It really brings parenthood into perspective and hits on the reality of of middle of the night feedings. :) Something every wanna-be parent should think about. 

Amy Ogle is a registered dietitian and I truly appreciate that she takes a good portion of this book to address dietary health. Having a healthy body is key to a healthy pregnancy and body. Even before you conceive, the body needs some important things to prepare for conception and because we eat so much junk food in our society, it truly is refreshing to see the benefits of a good diet highlighted. 

Another aspect of preconception is the fact that exercise needs to be a part of your life...male and females alike! I remember after my first baby was born...I immediately dropped 30 pounds and weighed less after her birth than I did before I was pregnant with her. My next two babies...the weight didn't come off as easily and I still carry some of that around, unfortunately. However, I go in spurts where I really want to exercise and honestly, as a family we do a lot of walking so exercising has always been a part of my life in one way or another. I love how Amy highlights exercise in her book and gives some nice illustrations on how to do certain profitable exercises.

That pretty much sums up the entire point of this book...take care of yourself. When you really think about your overall health, you tend to think you are doing pretty good. BUT, there are always areas that could use work and when you are thinking about having a baby, you need to take these tips and hints very seriously. Ladies, your body will carry a child so it needs to be as healthy as you can make it. Guys, your little swimmers are the only way you will become a daddy so take care of them and they could change your life forever! I really enjoyed checking out the book “Before Your Pregnancy: A 90-Day Guide for Couples on How to Prepare for a Healthy Conception"...it really opened my eyes to how I can take better care of my body and I also learned alot about infertility. It is a sad topic for many, but thankfully there is much that can be done to help!

I remember how excited my husband and I were to find out that we were going to be parents for the very first time. Of course, everyone had opinions on what we needed and could use for the baby and I had my own ideas as well. Being that I was the second oldest of six children, I had a bit of experience raising babies but nothing really prepares you for having your own baby. Taking care of other people's children is a breeze but when it is your own, things are a bit different. I like to tell people that I was a perfect parent until I had children of my own. :) I was SO excited when it came time to register for the items I wanted and needed for the baby and the first store I registered at was Babies 'R' Us because lets face it, that is THE go-to store for all baby needs!

Because I am a busy mom of three little ones, I have learned over the years what is a necessary baby item and what is not. Granted, what I think is needful and what others think is needful can vary so just bear with me while I share some of my favorite baby items with you. If you are doing a baby registry and are stumped about what you should register for, maybe these are some ideas that could help you out a bit...

1. BREAST PUMP

I cannot say enough about these. I never realized just how much I would use mine until my baby slept through a feeding once. Then, there are those times when you just get so full you have to pump so you don't get engorged. My breast pump is my best friend while breastfeeding and is always the first thing I recommend for a new mom to purchase/ask for as a gift (oh, and the electric ones are worth EVERY PENNY).

2. WIPES WARMER
Sooo, this is kind of a luxury item and I truly thought it was ridiculous when I first heard of it. A wipes warmer???  What in the world??? So crazy sounding but they are fantastic! I have yet to meet a baby who doesn't cringe and cry when a cold wipe is used on their bottom. You know, it takes their breath away type of reaction? I was given a Wipes Warmer several years ago and it has been a must-have in my nursery ever since. I love using warm wipes on my children...it is sooo comforting for them and I do highly recommend them.

3. SIMPLE BABY BATHTUB
You really don't need a shower attachment, vibrator or faucet attached to your baby tub. Those, to me, are unnecessary items. The amount of time I actually use a baby bathtub makes those things impractical to me...the simpler, the better. My favorite tub is one that you can use throughout early toddler stage and that offers no-slip features. This one pictured above is my absolute favorite and the brand that I have used since my first baby was born.

I can't believe that the weekend is here. Again. Time sure flies! Anyway, we are going to do some pre-winter de-cluttering this weekend and are going to be cleaning out our garage and back shed. Each of these samples has a small applicator stick that you can use to apply the perfume easily. I think my favorite fragrance was Empower...which benefits the charity Guiding Eyes for the Blind. We are not completely out of the summer months around here yet but we are definitely pressing on towards cooler temperatures! YAY! So, for this review I was sent a small sample sized tube of their SuperCrema Bio-Natural Creamy Balm. I was really interested to see what this cream was like, given the wholesome ingredients. 

This cream is super thick, almost like a salve. I could see right away that you would need only a small amount to achieve a nice layer on your skin. There is not much odor at all and it seems to be very luxurious. I used this cream on my arms and also on my hands. I will say that I wasn't thrilled with how slowly it absorbed...it seemed a bit on the greasy side but once it was absorbed, it felt fine. Because I am constantly using my hands, this would not be a good cream to use during the day; but at night, it would be very beneficial I believe. Because Olive Oil is so good for my skin, I will most likely be using this cream throughout the fall and winter months.

Check Out Kidorable's Product Improvements and Price Changes! PLUS Umbrella Review

Kidorable is a huge favorite around here. Whenever we get a new Kidorable item in the house, my children fight over it and I end up having to put it away for a few days. Yes, it is that bad. However, each child now has their own Kidorable item so there is not near as much fighting as there used to be. :)

I was recently made aware of some fun changes taking place over at Kidorable and wanted to share these new improvements with you all today. The design team at Kidorable is always busy looking for ways to make their adorable products better for us. They have tackled many different items and I wanted to give you a brief update as to what they have been doing. Here is a brief summary of the changes, including price changes...

• Kidorable Coats are changing from PVC to a lined PU (same quality and materials as our Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob coats) and will be available to ship starting September 2nd.   The price for these new coats is $39.00
• These are lighter, more comfortable and more attractive than PVC.  Everyone loves these coats.  100% of people we tested much prefer these to our regular coats. 
• The addition of a printed pattern liner makes our coats very special.  We chose a nylon liner for the raincoat because nylon is water proof and matches the feel of the PU.  Our PU+nylon is much lighter, easy to fold, and carry to go. 
• More than just a raincoat, these can be worn every day, all spring and fall. 

• Kidorable Umbrellas now all have a fun custom handle, setting Kidorable apart from all others. The new handles will be gradually phased in over the next few months.  The new price, effective September 2, is $13.95

• Kidorable Boots now have a custom printed lining, adding to perceived value.  Together with our custom sole, this lifts Kidorable boots above anything else on the market.  No other company has a fun custom sole and printed lining.   The new price, effective September 2, is $29.95

The boots have gone up in price but only by $.95 so you are really getting a good deal there. I love the idea of putting a printed liner inside the rain coats...I think it will be more comfortable than the old design. I am also loving the idea of a new umbrella handle that will match the theme of the umbrella. What a great idea!

I was given the opportunity to review a new and improved umbrella and so for this review, I was sent the Ladybug Umbrella. We used to have a Ladybug Umbrella that someone had given to us however, it tragically broke when it was accidentally folded up in the stroller. Oh, that was a sad, SAD day for us. We were so happy to have another Ladybug Umbrella!! One of our favorite features of this umbrella is the cute pair of eyes on top...isn't it cute?!?

I love the new handle design. It is 3D in appearance and really gives my children something better to hang on to. It is cute and matches the design of the entire umbrella, which is nice.

I think Hannah is thrilled with her new umbrella. I will say though that as a parent, you need to be very careful when your child opens and closes the umbrella. Hannah pinched her finger today because the release is really tight...I had pinched my finger the other day too so maybe this might be something Kidorable could look into adding as an improvement in the future. Her little accident was partially my fault for not helping her with it but it still is something to be careful of when using the umbrella. Once it is open though, it is a BLAST!

I think it is safe to say that this umbrella is getting ALOT of use. It was raining the other day when we came home from grocery shopping and right away, Hannah NEEDED to get her umbrella and stand in the rain. Don't ask me why, but she did and she had so much fun in the rain! :)
