Encourage Good Brushing Habits With FireFly Oral Care Products for Kids! {Review & Giveaway}

My daughter has been actively and seriously brushing her teeth for over a year now. When she was really young, I would help brush her teeth but it wasn't a priority at the time. Now that she is bigger, she has officially had her very first dental appointment this past spring and is brushing all the time. Cavities are NO fun and thankfully, my daughter had none at her very first dental appointment. Sadly, some children (like my brother) have very soft teeth and are prone to cavities. I was excited when FireFly reached out to me to gauge my interest in their products! I of course, accepted and am thrilled to introduce them to you today!

So, for this review I was sent three FireFly Ready Go Light Up Brushes and two tubes of the FireFly Fluoride Foam Toothpaste. These toothbrushes come in a variety of fun characters (Spider Man, Angry Birds, Strawberry Shortcake and many others) and are designed to keep a child brushing their teeth for a full 2+ minutes.

These toothbrushes are awesome. Have you ever wondered just how long you should brush your teeth? This nifty toothbrush has a built in timer and it actually lights up as the child brushes. It looks just like a stop-light! The bottom light is green and they start brushing then. When the yellow light comes on that means they are halfway done. Red means that they can stop! I love this idea and think that brushing thoroughly is so important. Another nice feature of these brushes is that they have a suction-cup base to keep them standing nicely between uses. I really love this feature of children's toothbrushes.

This toothpaste is a Fluoride toothpaste, which is why the recommended age is 3-12. By this age, your child should know to NOT swallow their toothpaste. When my children were younger, I used fluoride-free toothpaste just to be safe because they swallowed alot of toothpaste during those early years. Now that they are older (5 and 3), they know better and do a great job! I was sent the Angry Birds Fluoride Foam Toothpaste as well as the Barbie Fluoride Foam Toothpaste and this is so much fun to use! Simply squirt some into the child's mouth and they can brush, brush, brush. :) Foam is fun. :)

I will say that I really do not like "character" toothpastes/toothbrushes and was glad that I was sent a plain pink toothbrush. When it came time to have Hannah try out her new toothbrush, she was VERY excited because hey, we like pink. :)

First, we squirted some of the foam into Hannah's mouth. This Barbie Fluoride Foam Toothpaste is Bubblegum flavored and she always likes that taste. What I like about this style of toothpaste is that you aren't gooping toothpaste onto a toothbrush and you can use as little or as much as you want. We used about three small pumps.

Next, you get your handy-dandy light-up toothbrush, press the button and brush brush brush while the light is green. I left Hannah in the bathroom while I went and did something and she brushed until the light turned red! This is great because it means she was able to follow the "cues" of the toothbrush and brush for the recommended amount of time without me telling her when to stop. Watching the lights change gives them something to do while they brush...which is nice. :) She NEVER used to brush her teeth in the morning and evening but now, she does just because she LOVES this toothbrush and can do it all by herself. No twisty caps to get off, no balancing the toothbrush on the sink while trying to squeeze the toothpaste onto the bristles and easy peasy brushing. These are all combinations that make for a very positive brushing experience.

So needless to say, my daughter loves her new kid-friendly toothbrush and toothpaste. :) It has been a huge hit and is even more of a blessing to me as it encourages her to care for her teeth without me standing over her telling her what to do.

Organix-South Review & Giveaway

Skin care is probably one of the biggest themes that I have going on around here right now. It seems that our skin really takes a beating and companies know this. So, it is no wonder that I keep discovering new companies that offer natural skin care products that are suitable for the entire family. One of the skin care items that I have been looking to try is an all natural bug repellent. Oh my goodness...the mosquitoes this year are the size of Africa! I was very excited to dig into my goodies and I wasted no time getting to know Organix-South. :) First, I tried the Leaf & Oil Lotion. 

This lotion is very nice. It feels great going on my skin and absorbs quickly while still making my skin feel nourished. I also loved that it didn't feel greasy, smelled pleasant and when I washed my skin, it didn't leave a filmy layer...you know how some lotions can still feel thick and goopy after washing your hands? This is not like that at all. I am wanting my husband to try this out as he has extremely itchy skin and this lotion is also good for that ailment. The travel sized Leaf & Oil Lotion that I received retails for $1.95.

Next, I tried the Naked Organix Neem Butter To Go. This is a unique product as it can be used for your lips, body and face. Now, I have only used it on my lips so far and have found that the taste is not pleasant. SO, I will probably keep it away from my lips and use it on my skin from now on. I will also say that it felt WONDERFUL on my lips so if I can convince myself to get beyond the taste, I might use it on my lips more often. :) My daughter loves any type of lip care product and so she also tried out this Butter. She didn't come back for more so I am assuming it is because of the taste. The Naked Organix Neem Butter To Go retails for $5.99.

The Neem Mouthwash is very nice as well. It definitely has some herbal undertones to it and yet, is very minty and fresh tasting. After using, my mouth did feel clean and it did seem to completely freshen my breath as well. The color threw me off though...brown mouthwash isn't the norm around here but something that I can definitely get used to. :) Neem Mouthwash retails for $3.99/Travel Size and $13.49/Full Size bottle. 

I have never seen a Nail & Cuticle Pen like this one before. Confession time: I am a nail-biter. Sometimes. One of the reasons I bite my nails is because they get split and instead of getting nail clippers, I bite them off. Nail biting is not something that I have always done as an adult, but rather shows up when I am stressed or sick. So, having a product like this Nail & Cuticle Pen is great because it can both strenghten my nails as well as keep the cuticles healthy. It is so easy to use as well...simply tilt the pen downward until you see some oil in the tip. Then, brush the oil onto your nails and cuticles. I have sore cuticles as well and this pen works really nicely to soothe them. I am LOVING this pen and am definitely going to keep using it! The Nail & Cuticle Pen retails for $15.49.

In the beginning of this post I spoke about mosquitoes. Well, we had a lot of work to do outside last night and I was dreading it because of the bugs. I. Hate. Bugs. Period. They are annoying and they bite and they buzz around my head in endless circles. So, before I started my work I applied the Neem Herbal Outdoor Spray. This spray was originally developed for the Florida Everglades and I just knew it had to be good if it was made for Florida. You all know about the bugs that are down there! YUCK. This spray goes on in a thick spray rather than a mist so you need to spread it around with your hands after applying. I made sure to cover my arms, neck, legs and head. The smell definitely tells you that it is a bug repellent...but I don't mind at all! I also put this on my children and husband as well. Mosquitoes are HORRIBLE here and so we need something really effective. Well, after being outside for over 2 hours I have to say that this spray worked wonderfully! The bugs that were around me prior to using this spray disappeared after I used the spray and I was hooked. So, make sure if you are planning a campfire, picnic or hike that you have this Herbal Outdoor Spray handy. IT WORKS. The Neem Herbal Outdoor Spray retails for $9.29 and is worth every penny. 

Last but not least I tried the Neem Liquid Soap. This soap is brown in color and seems watery. However, when you rub your hands together you do get a nice lather so don't let the consistency fool you. It can be used for body wash, bath soak, facial cleanser and some other uses as well. This particular liquid soap is unscented so if you are sensitive to scented products, this would suit you perfectly! You really do not need much and it leaves your hands feeling clean and soft. I had no issues with this soap drying out my skin either. The Neem Liquid Soap retails for $12.95.

Personally, I have been loving using these TheraNeem products from Organix-South. They are gentle on my skin and I love using natural products. The facts that these products are safe for my entire family is also relieving...my children have sensitive skin so using these products on them has been wonderful as well. Get a Picture Perfect Smile with REMBRANDT! {Review & Giveaway}

Well, as I have mentioned in previous posts, this coming Friday is my brother's wedding. Ahh! I can't believe my little brother is getting married. Needless to say, our entire family is so incredibly excited and I am especially excited because I get to dress my babies up in the most adorable outfits and I am going to do Hannah's hair in rag rollers! Ha ha! Well, I am positive that I will be doing a lot of smiling this Friday and in preparation for that, I have been in the process of whitening my teeth!

Looking for the perfect teeth whitening products can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. There are so many different brands and types, it gets confusing to know which ones are the best. I love two different brands in particular and today, I am going to share one of them with you! REMBRANDT is one of my favorite teeth whitening brands because they carry just about everything you need to quickly and efficiently whiten your teeth. Here is a bit more of REMBRANDT's history...

REMBRANDT® was the discovery of cosmetic dentist and whitening pioneer, Dr. Robert Ibsen. His goal was to provide his patients with effective whitening power that would help fix the stains and scratches on their teeth. But he couldn't find anything on the market that served this purpose. So he headed to his lab and created REMBRANDT®, the first whitening toothpaste the category had ever seen. Even though the category has grown over the years, unlike other whitening brands, REMBRANDT® still stays single-mindedly focused on teeth whitening.

I do not consider myself to be a vain person but I do try to always look my best. Special occasions are the perfect time to work a bit harder to try and look even nicer so that is why I am attempting to whiten my teeth. Your smile is one of the first things people notice when they look at you so why not try and get it looking it's best?

So, for this review I was sent some of REMBRANDT's teeth whitening products to try out and I am so excited to share them with all of you today! I was sent the Two Hour Whitening Kit, Stain Dissolving Strips, Deeply White Toothpaste and the Intense Stain Toothpaste. Wow...I wanted white teeth and I am sure going to have them! :)

The Two Hour Whitening Kit was the first thing I tried out and it was very easy to use. Once you open the package you will find a tray containing all the items you will need for your whitening experience. There are two mouth trays and 8 capsules of whitening gel.

So, all you do is heat the mouth trays in hot (not boiling) water until they start to lose their form. Then, you put them in your mouth and bite down on them, molding them to your teeth using your lips and tongue. Once you have finished that step, put the contents of one capsule into the tray in a thin line. There is plenty in each capsule to adequately fill the tray so don't worry about using too much or too little. All you do at this point is put the mouth trays into your mouth and let them sit for 20 minutes. After the 20 minutes, rinse with water and let your mouth rest for 10 minutes. Repeat the process until you have used up all the capsules of gel. If you find that you are satisfied with the result of the whitening gel after only one or two applications, you don't have to use any more and can stop whenever you wish. I like to use mine for two applications at a time...my teeth are not that bad when it comes to stains and what-not so I save the other two applications for a different day.

The REMBRANDT Whitening Strips are wonderful and I use them all the time. They are super easy to use as well and are easily taken anywhere you go! They are made of small, filmy, dissolvable strips that are placed on your teeth and pressed into place, folding the excess over the back of your teeth. These strips completely dissolve and there is no sticky residue left over...just whiter teeth!

I love the REMBRANDT toothpastes. The Deeply White Toothpaste is wonderful...it thoroughly cleans my teeth and helps them look white in the process. The tube itself looks like it is about to bust open but that is just the active peroxide inside the paste. I love using this toothpaste about once a week to just maintain the whiteness of my teeth.

For those of you who have badly stained teeth from coffee, wine or other staining foods and beverages, may I recommend Intense Stain Toothpaste? This is also a daily use toothpaste that removes stains to brighten your teeth. I was having issues with yellowing teeth but since I have been using this paste over the course of several months, my teeth have lost the yellow color!! This is something I am VERY grateful for. :)

Spring Clean Your Smile With REMBRANDT Intense Stain Products

I love how easy REMBRANDT makes it to whiten and brighten your smile. Whenever I used to think about whitening my teeth, I always envisioned a long process that would take hours. Well, REMBRANDT makes it possible in minutes.

So, for this review I was sent a box of REMBRANDT® INTENSE STAIN® Stain Dissolving Strips and a tube of REMBRANDT® INTENSE STAIN® toothpaste.

Before I used the Stain Dissolving Strips, I decided to try out the REMBRANDT INTENSE STAIN Toothpaste to make sure my teeth were clean. This is a good sized tube that will last you quite a while...the only problem I had was getting the foil seal off the opening to squeeze the toothpaste out. I ended up using my Swiss Army Knife to get it open...LOL! It was tough.

This toothpaste tastes wonderful! It is very minty and not at all unpleasant in flavor. I brushed my teeth thoroughly and afterwards, they felt so clean and refreshed. 

Next, I dove into the box of Stain Dissolving Strips. These are very easy to use and super quick to apply too. In case you have never used these before, REMBRANDT includes really detailed instructions on the back of the box so you can refer to those while putting the strips on your teeth. I have used these before but needed to double check to make sure I was doing it properly. 

As you can see, one box contains 56 teeth whitening strips so you are definitely set for awhile. To use, simple pull the top of the strip packaging off and you will see the filmy strip inside. The notched side faces up when you apply the strip to your teeth. I did take a photo of the strips on my teeth but it was honestly too scary to post here so I spared you all that sight. HA HA! The only thing I don't like is the feeling of the strips on my teeth. It feels gummy and sticky but dissolves pretty quickly so that feeling doesn't last too long. Oh yes, and these strips are also mint flavored so that helps disguise the taste of the peroxide. When the strip was totally dissolved, my teeth felt normal and there was no residue left over from the strip. I LOVED that! The best part about these strips is that you can take them anywhere as well...they are small and thin so they fit just about anywhere, which is great!

So, in my opinion...These INTENSE STAIN products from REMBRANDT are fantastic! I love how quick and easy it is to brighten my teeth and also how wonderful the products taste. Honestly, flavor is a huge deal for me so if it works for me I want it to taste good too! I would definitely recommend these products to anyone looking to "spring clean" their smile.
