Well, the last time I reviewed ant bait I wasn't sure if I would have an ant problem here in our new house. Last week I was sitting at the computer when a teeny, tiny and scurried across my desk. Oh bummer...I know what that means. Where there is one ant, there are more. As the week progressed, I began to see more and more. Thankfully though, they are not the huge carpenter ants that I had at my old house...those things are nasty!! I have also had quite a few ants on my kitchen counter top around my bread basket and toaster. Crumbs...go figure. So, I am now on the war path and I am not playing games.

Right when I began to notice those tiny ants, I found out about TERRO Liquid Ant Baits and was immediately interested. My main concern is getting rid of the ants and at this point, I don't care HOW I get rid of them, I just want them gone (as does anyone with an ant infestation). Spring time is the prime time for ants to be coming around because they are waking up from a long winter's nap and are hungry. So, for this review I was sent a box of TERRO Liquid Ant Baits - Indoor and TERRO Liquid Ant Baits - Outdoor. When they arrived, I hurriedly opened the boxes and began to read the super easy-to-understand instructions.

The Indoor Liquid Ant Baits are super easy to use...all you do is pull them apart and then cut the bottom side of the bait. This makes a small ramp for the ants to climb up into the container so they can retrieve the liquid. Once you have done that, you can place them in the desired locations.

I stuck them all over my kitchen and dining room (excuse the pictures though...I put the bait upside down for some silly reason...make sure the side with the label is facing up). Once you have placed your bait, watch the magic begin. You will notice the ants going in and out of the container but DON'T kill them...let them be. They are taking the poison back to the nest where it will kill the rest of the colony.

The outdoor TERRO Liquid Ant Baits are really easy to use as well and require very little tampering. All you do is remove the two plastic screws that are sticking out from under the plastic tub. DON'T REMOVE THE CONTAINER! Once the screws have been removed, press down on the white tub and turn it slightly. This will allow the liquid to go into the collection area underneath.

You are going to want to place these around the perimeter of your home, especially where you see ant nests or areas where the ants are entering your home. Once you have found a place to put the bait, simply use the screws to anchor the bait to the ground.

The way this bait works is the ants climb up the small ramps and drink the liquid. Then, they meander back to the colony where the food is shared with the rest of the "family" and they will then die. Very effective, if you ask me. :)

After placing my indoor Liquid Ant Baits by the sliding glass patio door, I woke up in the morning to this...hooray!! Now, the only problem is that my children want to kill the ants. So, I have to keep them away from the bait. Isn't this GREAT?!?!?

We here in our home do not have any major food allergies...yet. I know plenty of people who do though and it is so tough for them to find foods that are safe for their families to eat. So, for this review I was sent four baking mixes from Sugar & Spice Market. I was sent: Chocolate Cake, Brownies, Sugar Cookies and Pancake/Waffle Mix. Oh my...chocolate cake!?! Seemed too good to be true. :)

I love to fix pancakes for my children. Pancakes make a fantastic and different option for lunch time and my children are HUGE fans. They especially LOVE chocolate chip pancakes so the Pancake/Waffle Mix was the first product I tried! I really noticed no difference in these pancakes as opposed to regular pancake mix. I noticed the dry mix itself needed to be stirred very gently because it was flying all over the kitchen otherwise...ha ha. I had to be careful there...the mix is really fine in texture.

When my pancakes were done I was floored at how yummy they were. They tasted slightly different from what I am used to when it comes to pancakes but they were still amazingly tasty. My children DEVOURED them and  I still have mix left over for another batch. The package comes with a resealable top so that makes it super easy to close and store.

Next, I tried out the Sugar Cookie Mix. Who doesn't love a good cookie now and then, huh? My children and husband are big cookie eaters and so I always try to have some on hand. These sugar cookies are simple to make, all you add is a few ingredients (butter, vanilla flavoring and water), mix and then drop onto your cookie sheets.

Then, you put them in the oven, turn on the oven and watch them bake...like this little guy is doing. My children LOVE to watch things baking in the oven. I love it! :)

Once the cookies are slightly browned on the bottoms, they come out of the oven and you can sprinkle sugar on the tops of them while they are still warm. I did this and they looked so lovely!!

Last but not least, try to keep your children's hands off them until they are cooled...then, you can let them try them! My children could not wait to try these Sugar Cookies! The package I made yielded 31 cookies and somehow, we ate all but 4 on the day they were made. I think I have mice...hmmmmmmmm...what do YOU think? LOL!

I am really looking forward to trying the other two mixes and am saving them for when I have my friends over who are on gluten free diets. I want to impress them with my baking abilities...ha ha! I think I may make them and take them to church for people there to try as well. I think people will be surprised to find out that they are gluten free desserts!! My Little Guy Turned ONE!!

Hi everyone! Hope you are enjoying your weekend here...I am presently preparing to put on a Hawaiian themed bridal shower for my future sister-in-law and so I have been busy busy busy! Anyway, I wanted to  let you all know that my littlest guy turned one this week...WOW. Where did that year go?? He is one of the cutest, darling and active little bundles of joy that has happened to our family and we are BLESSED to call him ours. We had a fun birthday and I am thrilled that we survived the first year! HA HA!!!

Ever Try A Low Carb Diet?

Soooo, I think we are about a month away from our big weigh in date. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, my siblings and I are in a weight loss competition in honor of my brother's June wedding. The winner will get a $120 VISA gift card so needless to say, I have been busting my chub here. :) Losing weight is NOT easy and is something I have tried to do for years. I have to say though that this attempt has been good. I have been successful in so many ways and feel better already.

In thinking along the lines of dieting, have you ever tried a low carb diet? Carbs are pretty nasty critters...they turn into sugar, which translates to calories which in turn ends up making you fat. Yeah, not good. I think the hardest part about eating low carb is actually finding food that is good to eat. I found some great food here at PB2 and some of it looks pretty yummy! That is the second problem with low carb diets...food that TASTES good and not like sawdust.

I have been on yeast-free diets which pretty much translates into carb-free dieting. Carbs are breads, starchy foods and other things like that. Also, isn't it interesting that diabetics have to watch their carbs too simply because carbs become sugar? Amazing. I never knew that until recently when a friend was diagnosed with diabetes.

So, have you ever been on a low carb diet and if so, how did it work for you? I know it is a hard diet to be on but SO worth it. I should try it again, just to get me over the hump I am in right now. Have You Ever Been in a Car Accident?

Goodness...since I have been a registered driver I have had several car accidents. Thankfully, none of them have required Personal Injury Attorneys and have just been fender benders. My first automobile accident occurred when I was on my lunch break while at my job. I had gone to a drive through and was exiting the parking lot. I was making a left hand turn into a turning lane...the road onto which I was turning was a four lane highway. So, I was making a left hand turn and the car opposite of me was making a left hand turn also into the same turn lane. When I got a break in traffic to make my turn, the other driver must have gotten a clear break too because we met in the middle...literally. It was pretty scary. All I remember thinking was "oh man, that sounded bad".

Well, both of us got out of our cars with other cars zooming by us and surveyed the damage. My back, passenger wheel was pretty banged up and the bumper was mangled quite a bit. Rats. I guess I would be late coming back from my lunch break. One of us called the police and after that, I called my boss letting her know that I would not be back as soon as I thought...she graciously told me to take my time. :)

When the police arrived on the scene, both of our vehicles were drivable so we pulled into a nearby parking lot to get a report filled out, exchange insurance information and check for injuries. The paramedics came and asked me a bunch of questions and wanted to know if I wanted to go to the hospital to get checked out. The only thing that was bothering me was my neck...it was a tiny bit sore but not enough to where I wanted to go to the hospital.

The whole ordeal ended up costing quite a chunk of money, although I don't remember the exact figure. My neck injury was treated by my chiropractor as a "no fault" claim and I was treated with both chiropractic care and massage therapy as well. I have never forgotten that accident and probably never will...it was a lesson that I learned the hard way - never trust other drivers!!

As soon as my children woke up from naps I told them I had a special treat for them and pulled out the Voots. They were both VERY excited and could not wait to taste them! My daughter is 4 and my son is 2 so while my daughter is big enough to eat two of these tarts, I just gave her one to try. She LOVED it. My son, well, he devoured his which means he loved them too! Today while I was getting ready for the day, my daughter helped herself to her daily dose of Voots...without asking mommy first. Hmmmm...I guess that's a good sign right? He was VERY nervous about trying them because they had those evil veggies in them. But, I insisted that they tasted like candy and that got him to try them. He LOVED them too!!!! He said that they taste like Sweet Tarts candy, which is true. I think I may have to hide the box and ration them out to the children and hubby...otherwise the whole box may be gone in one day!! :)

While Voots Veggie-Fruit Tarts are very tasty and are a dietary supplement, they are NOT a substitute for eating fresh fruits and veggies. For me though, it is good to know that I can at least help boost my children's nutritional needs in that area by giving them Voots. So, in my opinion...Voots Veggie-Fruit Tarts are fantastic! My children and husband love them and it is nice to have a fruity, tasty, veggie-packed supplement to offer them. While I work very hard to try and offer them fruits and vegetables on a regular basis, sometimes they just won't eat them. So, having Voots on hand is wonderful. I would definitely recommend these to anyone! Healthy never tasted so yummy. :)
