Nonni's Biscotti Review & Giveaway

In the mornings I love to have a cup of decaf hazelnut creme coffee. Usually, I add a bit of french vanilla creamer and then settle in with my little ones for our morning routine. If I have a sweet bread on hand, I like to grab a slice to munch on while sipping my coffee. Not only do I enjoy something to munch on in the mornings to help get me going, I also like to have something sweet to nibble on while the children are napping . This time of the day is PERFECT for me to kick back and relax for a little bit. All three of my children are on the same nap schedule so it makes for a very peaceful time for me. What better way to treat myself then to grab another cup of coffee and relax with a special treat!

I have had Biscotti before, but never this brand. My mom makes a really yummy chocolate Biscotti at Christmas time and it is phenomenal. So, for this review I was sent three boxes of Nonni's Salted Caramel Biscotti. I personally LOVE snacks that combine salty and sweet and so I was very excited to try this flavor.

What I really love is each piece of Biscotti is individually wrapped to lock in freshness. It also helps with portion control...if you have to open each package separately, it will prevent you from grabbing large handfuls at a time. This method of packaging definitely slows the binge eater down.

Each piece of Biscotti has chocolate drizzled across the top, sprinkled with granules of salt. Baked inside the Biscotti you will find generous chunks of caramel, which adds a chewy factor.

To top it all off, the bottom of the Biscotti is covered in sweet and creamy chocolate. Oh yes...this is definitely a snacker's heaven. Sweet, salty, crunchy and chewy all combined to make the most delicious Biscotti you will ever eat!

  

Both of my children (who LOVE sweets) really enjoyed these as a mid-afternoon snack. Rarely do they get sweet snacks but this was definitely a special treat for them. Their faces tell it all!! Each Salted Caramel Biscotti contains 100 calories, so that makes them a reasonable splurge for the dieter. No worries there! We are in the process of selling our house. No buyers yet, but we have had lots of activity and showings. Yesterday was our first open house and it went well! Because we are selling, we are also looking for a new house and one thing that I always notice when I walk into a house is how it smells. When I heard that they had come out with a new line of home fragrances, I was very excited and hurried right to the store to get my products. I am not thrilled with our local Walmart when it comes to selection of ANYTHING and of course, they were pretty much out of the fragrance mists. I didn't even see the diffusers anywhere. Soo, I headed over to Target and found exactly what I needed! I picked two fragrance mist starter kits...the Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice and the Cotton & Italian Mandarin. I also grabbed a Fuji Apple & Cardamom Oil Diffuser Starter Kit. What I loved about trying to decide what fragrance I would like the best was the fact that you could lift a tab on the top of the oil diffuser package to get a whiff of the fragrance. This is KEY for me when deciding what fragrance is best for me.

The Cotton & Italian Mandarin Fragrance Mist is AWESOME. It is delicate and light and not overpowering. My daughter smelled it in the bathroom and wanted to know what smelled so good. I laughed and told her that I had some nice spray that I had used. She thought it was great! Hubby thought it was too strong, but I didn't at all. I found myself spritzing a bit here and there throughout the house because I loved the smell so much! All you do is squeeze the top of the container and the mist comes out. You can also refill the holder with any mist scent you would like and it is simple to do.

I was also really impressed with the Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice Oil Diffuser. Not only does it look modern, contemporary and stylish, it also smells fantastic. I like simple and I love easy and that was exactly what it was like to assemble this diffuser.

 

You take the fragrance card (shown above) and press it into the vial containing the oil. Keep pressing until you hear a "click". Once the card is in place, the diffuser is ready to use!

Place anywhere in your home and within minutes, your house will be fragranced beautifully! I put mine in the living room and it smells so warm and inviting. Definitely adds some pleasant ambiance to whatever room it is in. With fall right around the corner, this fragrance would be my choice for my home.

Not only can you choose from the Cotton & Italian Mandarin and Fuji Apple & Cardamom scents, you can also choose from Lavender & Juniper Berry and Pineapple & Mangosteen! You definitely have options and after trying the two scents that I tried, I want to try the others now! Also, the diffuser will last for up to 30 days and takes no batteries and does not need to be plugged it.

So, in my opinion...the Glade Expressions Fragrances are WONDERFUL! I am really loving the Cotton & Italian Mandarin mist and it works very well for my bathroom. The Oil Diffuser is incredibly aromatic and I love how it makes my living room smell. I have been wearing glasses since I was about 10 years old. I thought I was such a huge deal when I got my first pair of glasses...unfortunately, I don't feel that way anymore! Shaving Products For Men

I have always enjoyed the plethora of shaving products that have been around for women. It seems that there are so many options from which to choose and so many brands...it can be overwhelming! Well, for every three products for women, there is one for men and I have to tell you that finding good shaving products for my hubby has not been an easy feat. The fact that he is a picky guy doesn't help either. Ha!

First of all, he likes to "soften" his facial hair prior to shaving it off. This process ensures that the hairs won't be so stiff and that he will have a cleaner shave. I have looked into getting him some good-quality face wash to help cleanse while he does this and I have loved what I have found! The product pictured above looks exceptionally wonderful. I love peppermint oil and this would definitely be a fantastic wash to help him wake up in the morning before he goes to work. 

Second, my husband is really picky when it comes to razors. For the longest time, he used disposable razors but found that they were cutting into his skin and felt very harsh. There always seemed to be stubble left over after he was done so he could not count on a clean shave every time. His skin is also very bumpy and so if he didn't use something for sensitive skin, his face would be bleeding in multiple places after shaving. This was very frustrating and I felt so horrible for him. Now, he uses a much more expensive razor that comes with replacement cartridges so he doesn't have to throw out the razor every time he shaves.  It is also very gentle on his skin and keeps him looking good.

Who likes to shave without shaving cream??? No one that I know. My husband always used the same brand of shaving cream until I introduced him to a shave gel. I didn't care for the scent of the brand he was using when I met him so I introduced him to my favorite brand and now that is all he uses! Ladies, isn't it great when our men take our advice and use what we like? 

So, those are just a few products that come to mind when I think about shaving products for the man in my life. He looks so handsome after a fresh shave and I know he feels good about himself when he has high-quality "tools" with which to work.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved gum. I remember my mom having some really good tasting gum with her all the time. She had a disease that caused muscle paralysis in her face so chewing gum after she recovered helped build back up her muscle tone. So, I was always trying to get a piece from her. She always had sugar-free gum which was better for us so she didn't mind sharing.

I am sure you have all heard of the gum brand Dentyne and it has been a favorite of mine. So, for this review I was sent some Split2Fit to try out and see just how easy it really is to split a pack of gum...something I have never tried to do before! Because I love to share, I was curious as to how this would work. Is is convenient? Is it trendy? Is it practical? Well, here are my thoughts.

First of all, the the gum package opens like a book. There is a bit of adhesive that holds it together if you don't want to split it and also that keeps it closed if you keep it as one package.

Should you decide to share with a friend, or down-size the package so it will fit compactly into a purse, pocket or diaper bag, you can separate it down the middle. I know that having a large pack of gum can be bulky so having this option is fantastic!

What I don't like? The wording on the packaging and photos that I have seen on their Facebook page. I don't like the sexual innuendos that are presented by Dentyne...especially the phrase "practice safe breath" (this was just one of many that I ran across while perusing the Dentyne website). This I find unnecessary and inappropriate...especially when you are talking about something as simple as a pack of gum. That is my honest opinion and as a born-again Christian, I don't like it at all.

Other than that, I love the flavors that I was sent (spearmint, arctic chill and peppermint), the wonderful taste it leaves in my mouth and the fresh breath that I have after chewing Dentyne Ice for a while! I also love the way I can  easily divide a pack to make it smaller. It is very good gum but I am not sure that I want to support Dentyne after seeing what I have seen from their company in their marketing.

So, in my opinion...Dentyne Split2Fit Gum is wonderful! I don't care for the marketing standards set forth by the company but the gum itself is very refreshing.

As I have grown older, I find that my teeth are not as white as they were when I was younger. I have never used teeth whitening products like the ones Rembrandt offers and so I was really interested to see if these would work for me. I have generally had nice teeth and so I have never had to whiten them. However, I have been noticing slight yellowing around the gums and brushing hasn't made the yellow go away.

So, for this review I was sent several products from REACH and Rembrandt to try out and I am going to share them with you all! I was sent:

The first product that I tried was the Rembrandt Intense Stain Toothpaste. I noticed right away that it tasted very minty and really left my teeth feeling clean...no residue at all. I also used the  REACH® Total Care + Whitening Toothbrush , which was very soft on my teeth. I have a sensitive area on my gums that gets irritated easily but this toothbrush felt great on that area and created no pain at all.

This toothbrush is really cool as it features MICRAWHITENING Calcium Carbonate Bristles which help to whiten teeth...just by using the brush! The REMBRANDT® DEEPLY WHITE™ + Peroxide Toothpaste is very different. The flavor tastes like peroxide, definitely no getting around that. Thankfully, the mint flavor helps to take away the nasty flavor of the peroxide.

Another thing that I will note here is that the tube itself looks like it is about to burst. This is because the Active Dental Peroxide releases oxygen to increase the whitening results. So, when you open the cap the tube may release air (yes, it "burped" at me!) which is totally fine.

Next, I tried the REMBRANDT® INTENSE STAIN® Stain Dissolving Strips. These are super easy to use. All you do is find the strip inside the packaging (I had a tough time at first as I was unsure what the strip
looked like).

Once I found it, I applied it to my teeth. There are very clear instructions so you don't do it wrong and honestly, it is not hard or difficult to understand. The little notch in the strip is your guide to putting the strip on correctly. Once in place, I again experienced the flavor of peroxide but it wasn't too bad at all. I used a strip on the upper and lower teeth and it took about 15 minutes for the strip to completely dissolve. The only thing I didn't like was that my lips were pasty feeling and dry afterwards...other than that, my teeth looked great!!

I will admit here that I am HORRIBLE when it comes to flossing. I forget all the time and don't do so well at reminding myself to do it. So, I was thrilled to receive the REACH® Total Care + Whitening Floss. Maybe if I know that the floss will help whiten my teeth I will be more excited to floss??? Who knows. Anyway, this floss is super nice and smooth on my teeth. It seemed gentle enough for sensitive gums and contains MICRO-GROOVES technology so I think it cleans better then other brands.

Last but not least I tried the REMBRANDT® 2 Hour Whitening Kit. When I saw that it took 2 hours, consisting of 4-20 minute sessions with 10 minute breaks in between, I honestly didn't think I would have time to do this. It sounded pretty complicated. So, I finally gave it a try today and I have to tell you that just because you are busy doesn't mean you have to totally block out 2 hours of your day to do this.

All you need to do is heat the mouth trays in hot (not boiling) water until they start to lose their form. Then, you put them in your mouth and bite down on them, molding them to your teeth using your lips and tongue. Next, put the whitening gel into the mouth pieces and insert them back into your mouth for 20 minutes. Once the 20 minutes are up, rinse your mouth and the trays with water and wait for 10 minutes. You repeat this process until all the vials are used up...you have plenty for 4 applications. I found that the taste was not bad and that it was very easy to do. I am a non-complicated person so the easier something is, the better I am at it! I also found that I didn't need to do 4 full applications today as my teeth are not stained at all. So, I have more for another day! One thing that I did not like was the fact that my teeth felt sensitive after using (which is normal). I also noticed that the peroxide burned a bit on the second application when it was swallowed. BUT, I was THRILLED with how white my teeth looked!! I was very impressed that this product from Rembrandt worked so well for me.

While the peroxide flavor is not the most pleasant, the results of using it are amazing!
