Well, I am sad to say that I didn't win the weight loss competition against my family. :( The bride-to-be actually won and I am really really happy for her! She is marrying my brother on Friday and we couldn't be happier for them. I am happy to report that I did come in third out of everyone that participated, which is really cool. :) During my weight loss journey, which I am still on, I enjoyed eating salad alot and it has become a staple for my lunches. Salad is such an amazing food...filling, healthy and so many ways to dress it up! It also helps with digestion and the fiber found in lettuces and spinach is wonderful. Along with eating salads, I have found some really yummy toppings that just make the salad even more tastier! Today, I am going to share a review of Tropical Traditions Whole Golden Flaxseed and how I used it to spruce up my salads.
Tropical Traditions has been a long-time favorite of mine and they are best known for their amazing Coconut Oil. I never realized what I could do with Coconut Oil until I met Tropical Traditions. If you (like I was) are wondering about how to use coconut oil, then you should really check out what Tropical Traditions suggests. I never knew I could use it in so many different recipes, candies and beverages. Check out this video on the many uses of coconut oil... Ok, so I totally want to try and make the fudge. Doesn't it look amazing?!? Oh, and I had never thought to add coconut oil to my coffee...what an interesting idea.
For this review I was sent a pouch of Tropical Traditions Whole Golden Flax Seed. Back when I was on a vegan diet I used flax seed daily as a fiber and fatty acid addition to my smoothies. It didn't have a whole lot of flavor but added some much-needed nutrition to my diet. This Flax Seed comes in a one pound pouch and it is definitely a good amount of seeds! In case you aren't familiar, here is a bit more information about golden flax seed...
Flax (Linum usitatissimum) is a beautiful blue flowered plant grown on the plains of Central Canada and the North Central United States. Our organic flaxseed is "golden flaxseed" from North Dakota. Modern research has taken great interest in flaxseed. Study after study confirms that the oil and fiber components of flaxseed have wonderful health benefits. A valuable source of Fiber, Essential Fatty Acids and Lignans.
The flax seed I used when on my vegan diet was brown so seeing it a golden color was different! I like it though...it kind of reminds me of sesame seeds.
This came just in time for my lunch and so I fixed my salad as usual. Adding the Golden Flax Seed really added nice color and flavor to my salad. Combined with my other ingredients, this flax seed is now a regular addition to my daily salad. It is nice to know that something so tiny can provide such wonderful nutrition for me. I also love to add Whole Golden Flax Seeds to my fruit smoothies, casseroles and yogurt. Oh, and this is also a WONDERFUL way to add a bit of extra nutrition to your children's foods as well. I sneak it into my youngest son's yogurt and he doesn't even notice. :)
Tropical Traditions has offered to giveaway a pouch of their Whole Golden Flax Seed to one of you! Here are your entry options... a Rafflecopter giveaway

I can't believe that it is almost time to start the dreaded spring cleaning again! I have always disliked spring cleaning and remember having to do it when I was a child. Mom would assign different rooms of the house to each of my siblings and I and we had about a week to complete our assigned room. Rooms like the kitchen and living room were generally done by all of us because they were bigger and I think I enjoyed cleaning the living room the best. Mom was (and still is) the queen of clean and let me tell you...our house HAD to be clean!! Now that I have had my own house for over 6 years I have learned why she loves clean. Life is just so much better and less stressful when you live in a clean home.
So, as I embark on my spring cleaning this year I am thrilled to have discovered Tropical Traditions All Purpose Cleaner! Before I talk about that though, I want to give you a bit of information about Tropical Traditions: The Best Place to get Virgin Coconut Oil. Here is a short video about Virgin Coconut Oil...
This video is fantastic if you are wondering What is Virgin Coconut Oil? Before I started reviewing products, I had never heard of Tropical Traditions but had heard of how wonderful Coconut Oil was. I am SO GLAD that my family and I have been using Coconut Oil since we first met them and now that I use it, my mom and dad use it too!
So, for this review I was sent a bottle of the Tropical Traditions All Purpose Cleaner. Timing was perfect for receiving this cleaner because there were some areas of my kitchen that needed some TLC. We have lived in this house for 3 months now and since we have moved, I have yet to do a really deep cleaning. Here is some information about this cleaner...
Safe & non-toxic, this solution is for all your household/commercial cleaning needs! Replace all of your harmful, toxic cleaners with Household Traditions All Purpose Cleaner! This environmentally safe botanical mixture contains no harmful detergents or solvents, no perfumes or dyes, and is easy to use! Household Traditions All Purpose Cleaner is an enzyme-based botanical formula that can cut through the toughest grease or dirt, and is completely non-toxic.
The first area of my kitchen that I tackled was the front of my oven. Oh goodness, between the finger prints and smudgy hands, my oven was filthy! So, I sprayed it down with the All Purpose Cleaner and let it set for a few minutes. Then, I wiped it down with a paper towel. Wow! I could not believe the difference! As you can see in the photo above, my before and after pictures are amazing!
Because the front of the oven turned out so great, I did the inside of the oven door window as well. I could not believe how the greasy the inside of the oven was. I mean, I KNOW the oven gets dirty but it seems to be neglected because how often do you remember to clean the inside of the oven? I don't EVER remember, unfortunately.
THIS was my rag after cleaning the inside of the oven door and this is just one of the surfaces of the cloth...eew! I am so glad to see that this cleaner works well for my oven. Another thing I forgot to mention was that there is not a strong odor to the Tropical Traditions All Purpose Cleaner so you are not overwhelmed with fumes when working with it.
Another area I cleaned was my kitchen sink. This is a well-used area of my home and you would think that if it is constantly coated with soapy water that it would be clean. NO! You would be surprised how scum can build up. I simply sprayed the cleaner into the sink and wiped it up. It worked very well and yes, my paper towel was dirty after cleaning the sinks. Tonight after dinner I completely wiped down all of my counter tops, stove top and microwave. Wow...my kitchen looks GOOD!
Not only can you use this as a kitchen and bathroom cleaner, you can also use it for cleaning your car, washing fruits & veggies, laundry pre-treater and other tough cleaning jobs. I love that it is a multi-purpose cleaner. That makes my job so much easier. Tropical Traditions All Purpose Cleaner retails for $6.99 (32 oz spray bottle) or $21.95 for the gallon jug. Tropical Traditions is on Facebook, Twitter and also on Pinterest! I love the recipes they post on Pinterest too...so yummy! Check them out today!
So, in my opinion...Tropical Traditions All Purpose Cleaner is a fantastic product! I love how it cleaned my kitchen so well and with so little effort. I have been looking for a cleaner like this that I can use to wipe down my kitchen surfaces and this one is my favorite right now! I would definitely recommend this to anyone...it will become your favorite cleaner too!

I have been a fan of Tropical Traditions since I began doing reviews. Prior to doing reviews, I had never heard of them and was so thrilled to become aware of them and their wonderful products! Probably their most popular product is their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and I know exactly why this is. It is full of flavor and tastes absolutely wonderful when added to recipes or just used alone. My favorite way to use this oil is when I am cooking pancakes. It adds a wonderful taste to my pancakes and my family LOVES them! Once my mom found out about Tropical Traditions, she has been a dedicated customer and raves about the coconut oil. She uses it in everything and also has been able to get my father to use it regularly too. He is a diabetic and has found that it is very tasty in many foods that he eats.
Tropical Traditions is America’s source for coconut oil. Their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is hand crafted in small batches by family producers, and it is the highest quality coconut oil they offer. You can read more about how virgin coconut oil is different from other coconut oils on their website: What is Virgin Coconut Oil?

Trying to eat healthy after a pregnancy laced with morning sickness has not been easy. The only foods that I was really able to eat were processed foods that were quick and salty. Never before have I had a pregnancy like this past one and I really hope to never experience one like it again!!! Now that I am not pregnant anymore I am really trying to eat healthy again. Trying to get out of a bad eating habit is not easy...but I am really giving it alot of effort. My children seem to echo my eating habits as well and so I am always looking for ways to sneak in healthy foods for them. I was recently thrilled to offer them salads at dinner and see them gobble them down-AND ask for MORE!!! Woo Hoo! Talk about doing a happy dance. :)
Well, in my quest to find healthier foods I have recently become acquainted with Tropical Traditions Antioxidant Omega 3 Greens. This dietary supplement comes in powder form and is available in two delicious flavors: berry and mint. Tropical Traditions is a company that is known world-wide for its Virgin Coconut Oil. Besides their coconut oil, they also carry a variety of skin care, household and other food-related products. According to my mom, Tropical Traditions is the best place to get Virgin Coconut Oil. She has tried other brands and varieties and Tropical Traditions is the only brand she will buy...she is just crazy about it!
Wow...I didn't know that you could use coconut oil in your spaghetti sauce! There are so many creative ways to utilize this fantastic product.
So, for this review I was sent a container of Antioxidant Omega 3 Greens in the berry flavor to try. I am a huge smoothie fan so I knew right away how I was going to use these greens!
These Natural Greens are in powder form, making it easy to dilute in water, juice, smoothies and other beverages. I was not sure what the taste would be like though...it sure smelled nice! All you do is add a scoop of the powder to your drink. It does not thicken at all and if you can get past the green color, it looks soo healthy!
I simply added a scoop to a glass of cold water and mixed it up well. You will notice that the powder does not dissolve, it simply mixes in. If you use a glass straw like I do, you can see the particles.
As soon as I was done mixing my drink and getting ready to try it, my little "mooch", who had been watching me mix it, wanted to try some too! So, to make sure she would like it, I tried it first. It was VERY yummy. I didn't find the flavor unpleasant at all and actually, you could taste the berry flavor.
After I was done, I offered some to my daughter. I have to admit that she is pretty adventurous. Seeing a green drink might gross some children out, but not mine! Both of my children enjoyed this drink and each of them helped to finish my glass. (I had two or three swigs and they finished it!!)
Tropical Traditions Antioxidant Omega 3 Greens are available to purchase directly from Tropical Tradition's website and retails for $38.99 for a 13.7 ounce container. You can choose from mint or berry flavors as well!
So, in my opinion...Tropical Traditions Antioxidant Omega 3 Greens is a fantastic product! I am thrilled that my children like it and that I can sneak in some nutrition into their diets. Omega 3's are very important additives to one's diet and if you are a mom who wants to help the family enjoy better health, I would recommend checking out these greens!

As you all know I am a huge fan of Tropical Traditions. I regularly use their products for my beauty routine, cooking, cleaning and baking. The first time I became acquainted with this company was 2 years ago when I started to do reviews. I was sent a quart of their Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and fell in love as soon as I tried it. The main thing that I use my Coconut Oil for is making pancakes. Oooo, the flavor it adds to my pancakes is just amazing, not to mention how much better it is for you then regular cooking oil or butter.
If you are unfamiliar with Tropical Traditions, here is a short 3 minute video that will introduce you to this company and the journey that they took to give us Virgin Coconut Oil...
As you can see, there is alot of effort put into making and keeping this product a high-quality one and one that is organic.
My mom has recently discovered Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil and she LOVES it. She talks about it constantly, sends emails to her friends about it and has been including it in her and my father's daily diet. I had told her about it before but for some reason, she never seemed interested. Then, when my father was diagnosed with diabetes she started trying to cook more carefully for him and that is how she discovered the Coconut Oil. Now, she uses it daily.
You can buy coconut oil from Tropical Traditions directly and they do offer several varieties as well.

I have always grown up on raw honey. My parents live on 30+ acres in the country and for as long as I can remember, have been given raw honey. The reason for this is because there is a beekeeper who places his hives on my parent's property as it is surrounded by fields and fruit orchards. As we all know, bees LOVE wild flowers, tree blossoms and other vegetation that is found in the country. In exchange for keeping the bees on my mom and dad's property, the beekeeper gives them honey...raw clover honey. Because of this, I have never tasted store bought honey until I was married. There is just something so pure, wild and rich about raw honey...how can one go back to store brands after tasting the "real" thing?
It is no surprise to me that Tropical Traditions carries Organic Canadian Raw Honey. With their wonderful product line, this is just one more luscious product that they offer to those of us looking to go organic and healthy in our lifestyles.
Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey is straight from the frontier areas of Canada and is only harvested 6 weeks during the summer months. Here is a bit more about this delectable treat...
In order for honey to be certified organic, the beehives must be placed in isolated areas miles from the dense population, industry, traffic congestion, and farm fields treated with chemicals and landfills. Second, a bee’s flying range is determined by their natural instinct which tells them to stay within their natural four mile range from the hive location. Finding area which can be certified organic is extremely difficult, which is why there are so few certified organic honeys on the market. Tropical Traditions sources its honey from hives in the wild frontier areas of Canada.
These regions are a rich source of wild vegetation that produce some of the finest honey in the world. The USDA and Canadian Organic Certification implies a rigorous set of standards and conditions that must be adhered to by both the producer (beekeeper) and the packager. All aspects of the honey production including the source of the nectar, forage area of the bees, management of the bees, extracting process, transportation, “lot” management, processing temperature, integrity (no co-mingling with non-organic honey), screening, and, packaging materials, are taken into account in the certification process.
As someone who has grown up on raw honey, I can tell you that honey from different flowers tastes different. Because most beekeepers focus on one type of honey, you can really see the difference. Color, texture and flavor are all effected when you take into consideration the location from which the honey has come.
So, for this review I was sent a 17 ounce jar of Organic Canadian Raw Honey. Right away, I noticed that the color was very light. It is almost white. When you think of honey, you probably picture clear and golden honey. This is not like that at all.
As you can see, this honey is not liquefied. The reason for this is because the honey has not been heated or processed...resulting in the crystallized form that you see in the jar. I am used to this, just not THIS crystallized.
To liquefy my honey so I could taste it, I just scooped some out of the jar and placed it in a mug. Then, I heated it for a few seconds. The above photo shows what it looks like prior to heating.
Once it was heated I was really shocked at how creamy it was. I am not used to my honey being like this and it was a very pleasant surprise. I put some butter on a slice of bread and topped it with some of this honey and my, oh my...what a TREAT!!!
The flavor was rich, creamy and sweet. I also gave some to my daughter, who is 3 and loves honey as well, and she ate it right up!
This Organic Canadian Raw Honey from Tropical Traditions comes in either the jar size like I received for $12.99, or you can purchase it in a 15 pound bucket for $135.99. If you consume a lot of honey (and I know people who do), this is a really great deal for you.
So, in my opinion...Tropical Traditions Organic Canadian Raw Honey is wonderful! I love how it is CREAMY and tastes sooo great. My children also loved it and I feel really great about giving them something that is organic and good for them.
Tropical Traditions has offered to give away a jar of this honey to one of my readers!! Yay!! Here are your entry options! :)
